Micheal Smith

Managing Director

Micheal is a plumber by trade and has 25 years experience working in both Ireland and in the US.  When he moved home in 2006, he diversified to renewables, recognising the growing need for a concerted effort from Ireland’s energy professionals to endorse and provide green solutions.  He spent three years researching new technologies across Europe and launched M&C Hybrid Energy in 2009.

Micheal is the Managing Director of the company.  He is a qualified biomass pellet boiler, Solar PV, Solar Thermal, Wood Pellet Stove and Heat Pump Installer.

In his spare time Micheal likes to drive his classic Ford Capri to vintage car shows.


Carmel Smith

Operations Manager

A highly motivated, positive and enthusiastic individual and an excellent team player. Always willing to give it my all and with me there are no half measures. Hard work and perseverance to exceed expectations.

Carmel joined the business in 2009 and her role is largely operational, in the office overseeing the delegation of a project, managing a project’s budget, overseeing company finance and marketing and ensuring overall customer satisfaction.

Carmel participates in horse show jumping events in her spare times and at weekends.

Mark O'Reilly

Mark O’Reilly

Plumbing Engineer

Mark is a fully qualified plumber for over 15 years, with a variety of experience working on plumbing and heating systems, specialising in renewable energy sources.

He has worked with the company since early 2020, and has huge ambitions for renewable energy in Ireland and bringing them to every home and business. Mark is on site daily assessing projects, and working with Michael to design systems to meet the needs of all our customers.

In his spare time Mark likes to spend time with his family, and follow all the local football clubs.


John Fitzpatrick

Plumbing Engineer

John is a recent recruit with M&C Hybrid Energy, joining us in 2020 with an extensive background in plumbing, having worked in America for many years, as well as here in Ireland.

His experience in the plumbing and heating sector has been mainly focused on the domestic and commercial markets. John has a keen interest in the renewable energy industry, and will continue to develop his skills with us in the future.

Outside of work you will find John keeping active by mountain biking in his spare time.



Admin & Coordination Assistant

Sophie is passionate about renewable energy and sustainability and is excited to be a part of one of Ireland’s leading green, renewable energy solution providers and to play her role in creating a better tomorrow for our next generation.

Sophie who has recently joined our team in late 2020 has come aboard to assist in the administration aspect of our business and works alongside Carmel.

In her spare time Sophie runs ‘shop local’ and ‘support local business’ initiatives as well as volunteering to help local communities and not for profit organisations withstand these uncertain times.


Kevin Team Member

Kevin McGurren

Plumbing Engineer

Kevin started with us in April 2021 as a qualified plumber, with over 20 years experience in the industry. 

Kevin has worked in the heating sector for decades, and is passionate about helping Ireland achieve its climate action goals by 2030 with the installation of 500,000 heat pumps. Kevin is also keen to learn more about the renewable energy sector, working on new builds and retrofit projects. 

Outside of work you will find Kevin keeping himself active running around after his sheep, fishing and enjoying watching his son play rugby. 

Jack McQuaid

Plumbing Apprentice

Jack is our newest recruit, starting his plumbing apprentice with us in September 2021. 


Jack has a keen interest in renewable energy, and we are excited to help develop his skills with technologies such as heat pumps, mechanical ventilation and solar PV systems. 

When not working, he can be found playing football or fishing. 

M&C Luke maintenance

Luke McBreen

Maintenance Technician

Luke recently joined the team in October 2021.
With a vast amount of experience working and maintaining a variety of technologies including heating systems, heat pumps, ventilation and solar PV systems. 
When he is not working, Luke can be found cycling his bike around the county.
